A Constant State of Becoming. Art Exhibition. Bardo. Berlin
Karne Kunst is pleased to present A Constant State of Becoming, a group exhibition featuring six Argentine artists currently based in Berlin. Through photography, video, installation, and experimental techniques, the exhibition explores the themes of migration, identity, and transformation, offering a compelling reflection on the fluidity of belonging in a world of constant change.

Curatorial Text
This exhibition is a meditation on the fluid and transformative experiences of migration, personal relationships, and the reconfiguration of everyday life. It brings together six artists whose works delve into the fragmented nature of identity, the emotional landscapes of displacement, and the continuous adaptation that defines existence in a state of becoming.
Fragmentation and Integration
Migration is a rupture, a division of the self across geographies, languages, and cultures. In In between worlds, Delfina Carmona captures this duality, constructing surreal, dreamlike images that reflect the emotional dislocation of inhabiting two worlds at once. Her work speaks to the simultaneous sense of belonging and alienation, where the familiar becomes strange and the strange becomes familiar.
Martina Zamudio’s Integrationskurs complements this exploration through a documentary lens. Her portraits of classmates from a German integration course highlight the diversity of migrant experiences. Through their faces and stories, Martina questions the societal expectations placed on migrants to assimilate while celebrating the individuality of those navigating this shared journey.
Emotional Landscapes
Migration reshapes not only geography but also the emotional ties that anchor us to others. In Meine Liebe Jus, Justina Leston reflects on the evolving bond between a migrant daughter and her father. Through the playful and tender exchange of cat images, her work uncovers the complexities of sustaining familial connections across borders. These images, filled with humor and care, become a visual language that bridges the emotional distance created by migration.
In “Mi mamá me ama”, Jasmine Bakalarz delves into the intimate and often isolating experience of raising children in a foreign land. Her photographs weave together the tension of personal vulnerability and artistic expression, capturing the emotional weight of nurturing both a family and a sense of self. Jasmine’s work reveals the quiet resilience of mothers as they navigate the challenges of building a home far from their roots, offering a deeply empathetic exploration of the intersecting roles of parenthood and migration.
Reconfiguration of the Everyday
The everyday is where migration’s subtler transformations unfold. Julieta Pestarino’s Paths of Lights examines historical memory and resilience through the life of Lisl Steiner, a 95-year-old photographer who emigrated from Austria to Argentina to escape the Nazis. Julieta’s work is a poignant reminder of how the act of leaving one’s homeland echoes across decades, shaping lives and legacies.
Lucía Szych’s Alphabet of Distances transforms soundscapes into visual forms, capturing the vibrations and resonances of language as it shapes experiences of foreignness and familiarity. Her spoken-drawings explore the fragility of memory and the impermanence of identity in a world where the self is constantly redefined. Lucía’s work invites viewers to rethink the relationship between sound, time, and belonging, creating a tactile map of dislocation.
